Lot Groups

Lot groups allow you to combine multiple transaction lots together so they can be tracked as a single unit without losing the individual lot data. This is useful for organizing related positions, tracking multi-leg option strategies, or even combining different assets that belong together conceptually (like a property and its

mortgage).

Common use cases

  • Option strategies: Group all legs of a spread, condor, or wheel strategy together to see combined P&L
  • Covered calls: Combine the underlying stock position with the options sold against it
  • Financed assets: Link a mortgage to the property it finances to see the true net position
  • DCA positions: Group multiple purchases of the same asset made over time into logical batches
  • Paired trades: Track hedged positions or pairs trades as a single unit

How to create a lot group

To create a lot group, select multiple items from any of these views:

  • Transactions tab – select multiple transactions
  • Lots tab – select multiple lots
  • Options tab – select multiple option positions

Once you've selected the items you want to group, click theĀ Lot groupĀ button in the bottom panel for batch operations. You can then either assign the selected items to an existing group or create a new one by typing in a name.

Lot groups can be nested to create a hierarchy. To create a nested structure, simply use a forward slash (/) in the group name to divide the hierarchy levels.

For example:

  • Wheel Strategy/January 2024
  • Wheel Strategy/February 2024
  • Real Estate/Downtown Apartment

This creates a top-level group with sub-groups underneath it. Each level in the hierarchy will have its own aggregated metrics, and you'll be able to navigate into any level to see more details.

Viewing lot groups

Once created, your lot groups will appear in both theĀ LotsĀ tab andĀ OptionsĀ tab. If you created nested groups, they'll display as a collapsible hierarchy. You can expand any group to see:

  • Individual lots and their performance
  • Aggregated metrics for the entire group or sub-group
  • Charts showing the combined performance

Combining different assets with top-level lot groups

By default, lot groups work within a single asset. However, you can combine different assets together in a lot group – for example, to track a house alongside the mortgage that financed it.

To enable this:

  1. Go toĀ Settings → Advanced tracking
  2. Find theĀ Additional groups to display in portfolioĀ section
  3. EnableĀ Top level lot groups

Once enabled, when you navigate to theĀ PortfolioĀ view, you'll see an additionalĀ LotsĀ tab. This tab shows lot groups from across your entire portfolio and allows you to combine assets together. For example, you could group a mortgage liability with the house it financed and see them together as a single lot. Expanding the group reveals the underlying lots separately, both in the table and in the charts.
